  • Heaven's Finale

Fireflies dancing in the twilight, giving a little light to substitute the sun rays that were now dimming in the horizon, gave the small clearing the look of an intimate dance floor. To him, the shiny mobile light bulbs just gave me enough light to see heaven. And, oh, how heaven was beautiful!

During his short life, he's heard no short amount of accounts of what Paradise looked like: An all-encompassing white light, tall pearly gates, bearded grandfather figures... To him, they were all delusional. To him, heaven was more concrete, yet not less amazing for it. Au contraire, it seemed more amazing that something so beautiful could dignify itself to take form like it did.

To him, heaven had silky brown hair, doe-shaped amber eyes that rested above high cheekbones, and the most beautiful rosy lips he'd ever seen. Heaven, in his world, went by the name of Allison Kilborn, and was standing right in front of him at this very moment.

As always, he took in her heart-shaped face, the inebriating fragance of french vanilla that she always wore, and the way the fireflies illuminated her as a heroin addict takes his shots. In almost six months of the most wonderful relationship he could have imagined, he still had a hard time figuring out how he had gotten so lucky. The most beautiful girl in the planet, whom he loved with all his heart, love him back? It still seemed too good to be true...

Tonight, under the light of the dim sun and the fireflies, the devil's advocate in him sprang to life as he, seeing the most beautiful liquid amber frozen for once, finally realized, without waiting for her to say so, that some things are too good to be true. He suddenly sympathized with those poor creatures who'll be left behind after the Lord's Rapture...
